           [스포츠동아 이승미 기자] 프랑스 남부의 휴양도시 칸을 뜨겁게 달궜던 제79회 칸 국제영화제가 12일간의 대장정을 마치고 막을 내렸다. 인류의 근원적인 갈등을 날카롭게 짚어낸 루마니아 거장의 신작이 최고 영예를 안은 가운데, 기대를 모았던 한국 영화 ‘호프’의 수상은 아쉽게 불발됐다.

          <p contents-hash="d9863a1c787564411e0f9231a62d43c6b2940bd9e8546901f7aa78f664c4d52d" dmcf-pid="u7OfHEiPUD" dmcf-ptype="general">‘피오르드’는 노르웨이에 정착한 루마니아 이민자 부부가 자녀 양육 방식과 종교적 차이로 이웃과 충돌하는 비극을 그린 이 작품으로, “세계 속 다양성의 이해와 존중을 매우 구체적이고 예술적으로 아름답게 다뤘다”는 극찬을 받았다. 문쥬 감독의 황금종료상 수상은 지난 2007년 ‘4개월, 3주… 그리고 2일’ 이후 두 번째다.</p>

           감독상은 ‘블랙 볼’을 연출한 스페인의 하비에르 암브로시·하비에르 칼보 감독과 ‘파더랜드’를 선보인 폴란드의 파벨 파블리코프스키 감독이 공동 수상했다. 에마뉘엘 마레 감독의 ‘우리의 구원’은 각본상의 영예를 안았다.

          <p contents-hash="9e16e9703ba3f04fa67f61e166f00440d79238ca304689cd9a51deffadaf8343" dmcf-pid="K9vxFONdzN" dmcf-ptype="general">4년 만에 한국 영화로서 공식 경쟁 부문에 진출해 황금종려상을 노렸던 나홍진 감독의 SF 블록버스터 ‘호프’는 아쉽게도 수상 명단에 이름을 올리지 못했다. 비무장지대(DMZ) 인근 해안 마을에 나타난 외계 존재와 이에 맞서는 인간들의 사투를 그린 ‘호프’는 액션, 스릴러, 코미디를 버무린 파격적인 연출로 현지 상영 당시 폭발적인 관심과 호평을 받았으나 심사위원단의 최종 선택에 닿지는 못했다. </p>

           비록 본상 수상작은 배출하지 못했지만, 올해 칸영화제는 한국 영화와 영화인들의 존재감을 확인하는 무대였다.

          <p contents-hash="3e5117690ef31589a68c6e3820ef17accbb4cb88b104bdce1bf923234e7b0fb2" dmcf-pid="Vr8vLKFYpo" dmcf-ptype="general">가장 먼저 박찬욱 감독이 한국인 최초로 칸영화제 최고 권위인 경쟁 부문 심사위원장으로 위촉돼 영화제의 중심축 역할을 수행했다. 박 감독은 공정하고 깊이 있는 심사를 이끌며 세계 영화계 내 한국 영화의 높아진 위상을 전 세계에 각인시켰다.</p>
          <p contents-hash="c4adbf649668e845fbd0b3ec976c46dd6154dd331e54828c9b69386873576d66" dmcf-pid="fm6To93G3L" dmcf-ptype="general">초청작들의 면면도 화려했다. 경쟁 부문의 ‘호프’ 외에도 장르 영화를 소개하는 섹션인 미드나잇 스크리닝 부문에서는 연상호 감독의 신작 ‘군체‘’ 베일을 벗었다. 정체불명의 바이러스가 번진 건물 속 사투를 그린 이 SF 스릴러는 상영 직후 7분간의 뜨거운 기립박수를 받으며 현지 관객들을 사로잡았다. 감독주간에 초청된 정주리 감독의 ‘도라’ 역시 밀도 높은 연출력으로 평단의 주목을 받으며 한국 영화의 넓은 스펙트럼과 저력을 다시 한번 증명해 냈다.</p>
